The visionary behind Marfan International School

Dr. Ibrahim Marfan

Dr. Ibrahim Marfan, a distinguished educator and visionary, founded Marfan International School in 1988 with a dream to transform education in Northern Nigeria. Born and raised in Kano, he completed his education at prestigious institutions both in Nigeria and abroad, earning his doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of London.

Having witnessed the challenges facing education in the region, Dr. Marfan was determined to create an institution that would combine academic excellence with strong moral values and cultural heritage. His philosophy was simple yet profound: education should prepare students not just for examinations, but for life.

Under his leadership, the school grew from a small primary school with just 35 students to the comprehensive educational institution it is today. Dr. Marfan's legacy lives on in the school's commitment to excellence, integrity, and innovation in education.

"Education is not merely the acquisition of knowledge, but the transformation of character and the cultivation of wisdom. Our students must be prepared not just to earn a living, but to live a meaningful life."
— Dr. Ibrahim Marfan, Founder

Our History

The journey from our founding to the present day

The Early Years (1988-1995)

Marfan International School began as a modest primary school in a small building in Kano, with just 35 students and 5 teachers. Despite limited resources, the school quickly gained a reputation for its rigorous academics and emphasis on character development. By 1995, the school had expanded to include a junior secondary section and had over 200 students.

Growth and Development (1996-2010)

The next decade saw rapid growth as the school added a senior secondary section and expanded its campus. New facilities were built, including science laboratories, a library, and sports fields. The curriculum was enhanced to include a stronger focus on technology and the arts. By 2010, Marfan had become one of the most respected educational institutions in Northern Nigeria, with over 800 students.

Modern Era (2011-Present)

In recent years, Marfan International School has continued to innovate and expand. The introduction of international partnerships has enriched our curriculum and provided new opportunities for students and teachers. The completion of our state-of-the-art sports complex in 2020 and the celebration of our 35th anniversary in 2023 mark significant milestones in our journey. Today, with over 1,200 students and 120 faculty members, we remain committed to our founding vision while embracing the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.
